Program Alternatives
There are alternative ways to register for this program. A person may register for the NDOR portion and the ACI portion in either a training format which includes the certification examination or in an examination format only. The examination format involves no time spent in training. A registrant will simply come to the exam location at the appointed time and take the exam. This alternative is made available for people who have experience in the field and in many instances are already certified and simply need to renew the certification.
If a person registers for one of the training alternatives, some time will be spent in reviewing possible examination questions and registrants will have the opportunity to witness a demonstration of the ACI performance exam and practice the technique. The ACI practice session will take place on the day before the exam.
Written Examinations
The NDOR (Level I) written examination is a one-hour closed book objective test . The NDOR (Level II) written exam is a two hour closed book objective test. The ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician ACI Strength Testing Technician and ACI Flatwork Finisher written examinations are one-hour closed book test that cover their respective ASTM standards. Calculations may be required for some questions. Registrants may bring a battery powered calculator. Calculators will be furnished if you forget yours.
Performance Examination
The ACI registrants will be required to successfully perform each of the ASTM Standard Methods. Registrants will be judged by their ability to correctly perform all required procedures for each of the ASTM Standards based upon the criteria shown on the Performance Examination Checklists (these checklists are published in the Technician Workbook).
